Castro usually throws in a repeat, and this week, we have it. 20.3 is a repeat of 18.4, and it’s going to burn.

We’ll have more detailed tips in the coming days, but for now, here are a few things to chew on.

3 Tips for 20.3

1. Break. Up. Your. Reps!

Your shoulders are going to be so smoked by the end of that first half — and then you have to do handstand walks. Most of us are going to want to break up the HSPUs (or the scaled version you’re doing) from the get-go. If you’ve ever done these in a workout, you probably know that once you start failing, it’s hard to come back. So, stay away from failure so you can avoid those no-reps.

2. Know Your Movement Standards — and Check Them Ahead of Time

We’ve had drama in the past (*ahem* we’re talking about this) with handstand push-ups and meeting the movement requirements. Regardless of what you think of the standards, you have to follow them. Set up your station and check your line before the clock starts.

3. Aim for Quick Transitions

Holte mentioned this at the live announcement — quick transitions were important to her (epic) performance. If you feel that a few seconds of rest will help you knock out your reps faster, by all means, do it. But don’t linger around your barbell or pace next to the wall for too long. You don’t have the time to waste.

Stay tuned for more! In the meantime, grab a pair of grips so you don’t destroy your hands during those deadlifts.
