Jason Khalipa’s Advice for Power Cleans and Managing Rest Time

Jason Khalipa is forever an athlete of great wisdom and experience. Recently, he tackled a challenging power clean-and-burpee WOD and offered two pieces of expert advice:

  1. Pull the bar the same way you lower the bar.
  2. Use the 3 step back technique mid-workout to efficiently manage rest time.

Yesterday the crew and I tested workouts. On the power clean I think about “hitting” the same positions on the way up as I do on the way down. This helps to keep the bar close and improves efficiency. I also use the 3 step back technique to keep my rest to a minimum. The workout: in 16 minutes complete 30 cleans 135 20 burpees 25 cleans 155 25 burpees 20 cleans 185 30 burpees Max reps 225 (I got 14) @nc_fit @ncfit_collective #crossfit #powerclean
